Royal Thai Government Scholarships
The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) manages a number of Doctoral and Master’s level non-binding scholarships provided by the Royal Thai Government (RTG) to qualified candidates with excellent academic qualifications from Thailand and other Asian countries. The scholarships provide an opportunity for students of diverse backgrounds from all countries in Asia to study and conduct research work together in the truly international environment at AIT and to build a good foundation for International understanding among the people of Asia.
His Majesty the King’s Scholarships for Doctoral Programs
His Majesty the King’s Scholarships for Doctoral Programs is awarded to eligible applicants from the specific priority countries supported by the Thai government who have demonstrated exceptional undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree) and graduate (Master’s degree) accomplishments in order to pursue their doctoral studies in any academic program offered at the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD).

Scholarship Coverage
For Ph.D. programs, each scholarship award includes tuition, registration fees, housing, and a living expense bursary on AIT’s residential campus for the whole 41-month (7-semester) program. Each student receives a non-binding scholarship of roughly 1.96 MB.

Her Majesty the Queen’s Scholarships for Master’s Programs
Her Majesty the Queen’s Scholarships for Master’s Programs is awarded to eligible students from any Asian nation who have excelled in their undergraduate studies and wish to pursue a Master’s degree in one of the environmental studies programs provided by the School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD).
Loom Nam Khong Pijai (GMS Scholarships) for Master’s Programs
In recognition of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Royal Thai Government offers the Loom Nam Khong Pijai Scholarships. In any academic program pertaining to the four subject areas, the goal is to support the development of human resources in the six GMS countries: Cambodia, Southern China (including the provinces of Yunnan and Guangxi), Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Scholarship Coverage
Each scholarship grant covers living expenses, tuition, and housing costs on AIT’s residential campus for the duration of the 22-month master’s program. The non-binding scholarship is worth about 1.10 MB per student.
Royal Thai Government Scholarships Eligibility and required documents
The candidates can apply for the Royal Thai Government Scholarships who:
- Have an exceptional academic record from a 4-year undergraduate program and a 2-year master’s program(for PhD) in relevant disciplines from a recognized school;
- Bachelor’s and master’s degree GPAs must be at least 3.5.
- Two recommendation letters;
- Have the IELTS 6.0 (Overall and Writing bands) or AIT EET ≥ 6.0 English proficiency score that the AIT Language Center requires.
- Research proposal (For PhD);
