Students who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and demonstrated exceptional academic achievement are eligible to apply for the University of Saskatchewan’s IB Excellence Awards.
Eligibility Criteria
The Excellence in International Baccalaureate (IB) Awards are given out just once. An IB Excellence Award will be given to international students (non-Canadian nationals paying differential tuition) who complete an IB diploma and apply to any U of S direct-entry college.
Application Process
Students can apply online for undergraduate admission and be considered for admission. The deadline for applications is February 15. By March 1, applicants must also submit all required supporting documentation, pay the application cost, and fulfill all U.S. admissions standards, which include English language proficiency.

The scholarship value is $20,000.

3. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS) aims to position Canada as a global hub for research and higher education by drawing and holding on top-tier PhD candidates. It is offered to PhD candidates from Canada and other countries who are enrolled in Canadian universities. The award is $50,000 annually for three years.

4. Dean’s Doctoral Scholarship for International Students
With a focus on leadership, extraordinary research potential, and a dedication to making a positive impact on their academic and global communities, this esteemed scholarship program aims to identify and assist deserving PhD candidates from diverse backgrounds. The application closed on January 9, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
The following requirements must be fulfilled in order to be qualified to apply for a Dean’s International Doctoral Scholarship:
- As of December 31, 2023, candidates must be enrolled full-time international students at USask in doctorate-level programs.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 80.00% is required of applicants.
- At the time of application, candidates must have spent no more than 24 months in a PhD program.
Award Value
The value of the Dean’s Doctoral Scholarship for International Students is $24,000/year for two years.

5. Council of International School Awards for Undergraduate
For international graduates of CIS member universities wishing to enroll in undergraduate programs at the University of Saskatchewan. Students must fill out the PAWS application for the Council of International School Awards in order to be eligible for this honor.
Eligibility Criteria
- The scholarship is open to international students interested in undergraduate programs at the University of Saskatchewan.
Award Amounts
The value of the Council of International School Awards for Undergraduates is $15,000.
5. Canadian Curriculum Schools Awards
For foreign students completing a Canadian curriculum school with an international (non-domestic) curriculum.
Eligibility Criteria
- Available to foreign students enrolled full-time in University of Saskatchewan undergraduate programs. A graduate of an international (non-domestic) Canadian curriculum school is required to be considered for the Canadian Curriculum Schools Awards.

6. Teacher-Scholar Doctoral Fellowship
Teacher-Scholar Doctoral Fellowships are given out to domestic and international doctorate candidates in their second to fifth year of study through a university-wide competition held in collaboration with the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning. Recipients who are successful will be trained in teaching at a university and will teach a course under the supervision of a faculty mentor.
Value: $15,000 spread over a year, with compensation for sessional lecturers
