The Lester B. Knight M.Eng./MBA Scholarship offers excellent opportunities for students who have academic distinction, leadership potential, and financial need and are interested in pursuing a dual degree program in engineering and business administration.

Top students are encouraged and supported by the Lester B. Knight Scholarship to pursue MBA and M.Eng. degrees at Cornell. The scholarship is the consequence of Mr. Knight’s kind donation and his family’s ongoing support.

Eligibility

For consideration for a Knight Scholarship, a candidate must either:

  • Enrolling in Cornell University’s Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) program
  • A Cornell M.Eng. graduate enrolling in the Johnson School’s MBA program

International students are eligible to apply for this award.

The Benefit of Lester B. Knight M.Eng./MBA Scholarship

The amount offered by Knight Scholarships could reach $60,000. While enrolled as graduate students in the M.Eng. degree program at Cornell, Knight Scholars are given a $15,000 tuition grant per semester for up to two semesters, as well as a $15,000 tuition award per semester for up to two semesters while enrolled in the MBA degree program. Knight Scholarship recipients who are pursuing the M.Eng. program may continue to use the MBA component of their scholarships by applying to the Johnson School up to five years after earning their M.Eng.

Knight Scholarship recipients who are entering the M.Eng. program may still apply to the Johnson School five years after earning their M.Eng. degree while keeping the MBA portion of their scholarships.

Deadline

The deadline for submission Lester B. Knight M.Eng./MBA Scholarship is February 1 at 11:59 p.m. Applicants who are accepted will be informed of their prize at the same time as or shortly after receiving their admissions offer.

Late applications won’t be taken into consideration. Awards are not given once the recipient has already paid the semester’s tuition.

Application process

Students must submit a completed online application for admission, a 500-word essay, and a one-page resume in order to be considered for Lester B. Knight M.Eng./MBA Scholarship. The essay should discuss the events that inspired the student to pursue engineering and business, as well as the student’s accomplishments and future professional objectives.

2) M.Eng. graduates who wish to apply for an MBA at the Johnson School should complete the MBA Online Application for Admission. Along with their essay and resume, they should also complete the Knight Scholarship Application Form (PDF) and send it to engr_grad@cornell.edu.
