Period of Scholarship
- Three-year Master’s Program: one year of Korean language instruction plus two years of degree work
- Four-year doctoral program: one-year Korean language course and three years of coursework
- Research Program: Six Months or a Year
- Global Network Program: within 2 years.
* Scholars in the Research and Global Network program who achieved a TOPIK level of 5 or 6 will not need to enroll in a Korean language program.
*The remaining six months of the Korean language program will not be required of those who earn TOPIK level 5 or 6, and they must begin their degree program the following semester.

Eligibility Criteria
The Candidates who fulfill the following criteria can apply for Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Programs:
- The only permissible citizenship for candidates is that of NIIED-designated nations that are asked to participate in the GKS program.
- Korean citizens or Koreans holding dual citizenship are not eligible to apply for this program.
- The cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of all coursework from the prior degree program *must satisfy one of the requirements listed below;
- A person should be in the top 20% of their class or have a score percentile of 80% or above on a 100-point scale.
- The CGPA needs to be 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0, or above.
- The age requirement is under 40.
- Academic professors under 45 who work for one of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) recipients* are eligible to apply.
- To study in Korea for the duration of the program, all applicants must be in good physical and mental health.
In their previous degree program, applicants must have maintained a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 80%.

Candidates can send their applications to Korean universities that have been approved by NIIED or to Korean embassies in their home nations.
