The purpose of Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is to give foreign students access to undergraduate and graduate programs at Korean higher education institutions. The scholarship program seeks to augment global education interchange while fortifying friendships between Korea and the participating nations.

- Bachelor’s Degree Program: 5-7 years
- 1 year of Korean language training + 4~6 years of degree program
- Associate Degree Program: 3-4 years
- 1 year of Korean language training + 2~3 years of degree program

Under the GKS Scholarship 2024, 262 students from all over the world will be invited to apply for the Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree programs this year. 176 of the 262 applicants will be chosen through the University Track, while 86 will be chosen through the Embassy Track.

Eligibility Criteria
Citizens of NIIED-designated nations that are invited to participate in the GKS program are the only acceptable citizenship for applicants.
- Applicants for this program may not be Korean citizens or Koreans with dual citizenship.
- Candidates must not have turned 25 on March 1st of the year they are invited to apply.
- The applicants ought to be high school graduates.
- Applicants with a bachelor’s degree who completed their high school education in Korea are not eligible to apply for the program.
In their previous degree program, applicants must have maintained a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 80%.

At participating Korean universities, the scholarship usually covers a wide range of subject areas. These may include engineering, natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, arts, and others.

Application Procedure
Candidates can send their applications to Korean universities that have been approved by NIIED or to Korean embassies in their home nations. Based on the NIIED selection criteria, each embassy and university chooses the successful candidates from the pool of applications.
