The KWI (Kulturwissenschaftliches Institut), Essen, Germany
An interdisciplinary research center for the humanities and social sciences, the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) in Essen, Germany follows the tradition of institutes for advanced study. KWI, which is based in the Ruhr Area, provides a setting for independent and cutting-edge humanities research as well as several chances for public involvement. The following fields of study are the current focus of research at KWI: literary and cultural sociology, cultural science studies, science communication, and public humanities.

KWI International Fellowships Details
Excellent academics in the humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences are the target audience for the KWI fellowship program. The institution gives fellows library service, event, and research management, as well as administrative and communication support. It also offers office space, technical support, and modern equipment.
Eligibility
KWI international fellowships applications are being accepted from post-doctoral research fellows with up to six years of experience who have obtained their PhDs. Project ideas should speak to the research agenda of KWI. Researchers from all over the world can apply for the KWI International Fellowship Program. German nationals can only submit an application if they are currently working for an international organization.
Benefits
A fellowship contract (not a full-employment contract) and a monthly stipend of 4.000 € (pre-tax) will be given to selected fellows. Rent, insurance, and other living costs are to be covered by this payment. It is also possible to receive a portion of your travel expenditures reimbursed for getting to and from KWI. Any additional travel costs, such as those connected with conferences, must be covered by fellows using their allowance.

KWI International Fellowships Application Process
- Application materials must be submitted electronically to kwi.fellowships@gmail.com as a single PDF file no larger than 20 MB.
- The application must be written in English and include a CV, a list of publications, a copy of your PhD certificate, and a proposal outlining your KWI project that is no longer than 5,000 characters.
- The closing date for applications is August 31, 2023, at 0:00 (midnight, CET). Applications received after this deadline or that are incomplete will not be taken into consideration.
- A committee made up of the director of the institution and members of the KWI governing board will choose the fellows.
Timeline
The deadline for KWI International Fellowships applications is August 31, 2023, at 0:00 (midnight, CET). Fellowships for a period of six months beginning on April 1, 2024, and ending on September 30, 2024.
