European Postdoctoral Fellowships
They encourage scientists to pursue their research careers whether they are relocating within Europe or traveling there from other continents. These fellowships can last anywhere from one to two years, and they are offered in EU Member States or Countries Associated with Horizon Europe. Any nationality is welcome to apply for research.
Global Postdoctoral Fellowships
They provide funds for researchers to travel outside of Europe. The fellowship is expected to last two to three years, of which the first one to two years must be spent in a non-associated Third Country. After that, there will be a one-year mandatory return period to an organization located in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country. Applications can only be submitted by citizens or long-term residents of EU member states or countries associated with Horizon Europe.

Eligibility Criteria
Researchers interested in Fully Funded Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships
- should, at the time of the application deadline, hold a PhD. Those who have successfully defended their PhD thesis but have not yet received their doctorate will also be accepted as eligible candidates.
- must have a maximum of eight years of research experience starting from the date their PhD degree was awarded. Years of experience outside of research, career breaks, or years of research experience in third countries will not count toward the above maximum. Neither will nationals of EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries who wish to reintegrate into Europe count toward the above maximum.
- should adhere to mobility rules: they cannot have lived or engaged in their primary activity (job, study, etc.) for more than 12 months in the 36 months before the call deadline in the beneficiary’s country (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships) or the host organization for the outgoing phase (for Global Postdoctoral Fellowships).
Timeline for Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships
- The call for proposals will open on April 9, 2024.
- The deadline to submit proposals is September 11, 2024.
- Notifying applicants of call results in February 2025 (TBC)
- April 2025: Signature of grant agreements for projects that are successful (TBC)
- April 2025: The first initiatives supported by the EU begin (TBC)
Application Procedure
Applying researchers must do so in collaboration with a host organization, which may be a firm, SME, university, research institute, or another organization having a base in a Horizon Europe Associated Country or an EU Member State. Postdoctoral Fellowships in any discipline are available, including fields of study included in the Euratom Research and Training Programme.
