Summary of International Peace Scholarship for Women

Since 1949, the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund has aided women from all over the world in pursuing graduate studies in the United States and Canada. Since 1951, IPS has also assisted international Cottey College students in obtaining degrees. Today, the International Peace Scholarship Fund is open for:

  • Women pursuing advanced degrees from reputable schools or universities in the US or Canada.
  • International students studying at Cottey College

Benefits of the International Peace Scholarship for Women

The maximum sum offered to a student is $12,500. Individuals may be awarded smaller amounts based on their requirements. Scholarships are not automatically renewed. Recipients may reapply and compete for funding in consecutive years if they maintain sufficient academic achievement and demonstrate ongoing need.

Eligibility Criteria

A woman is qualified to apply for an International Peace Scholarship if:

  • is a woman outside of the United States and Canada obtaining an advanced degree from an approved institution or university in the United States or Canada.
  • will return to her home country to use her degree to have a positive effect and promote global peace.
  • has a full year of coursework remaining and is enrolled and residing in the United States or Canada for the whole school year.
  • is an overseas student at Cottey College.

*Applicants must be qualified for full-time graduate study at an approved college or university in the United States or Canada. Applicants must include a copy of their admission confirmation along with their application. The announcement must specify the graduate degree program.

Non-Eligibility

  • Doctoral candidates who have finished courses but are merely working on their dissertations are ineligible to apply as first-time applicants.
  • Students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada are ineligible. A student with residency for tax purposes is permitted.
  • Scholarships are not awarded for online courses, research, internships, or practical training that are not integrated with coursework.

International Peace Scholarship Application Deadline

The deadline to apply for the International Peace Scholarship for Women 2025-26 is December 15, 2024.

Application Procedure

If you meet the qualifying conditions, please complete the online eligibility form. Each year, the eligibility period runs from September 15 until December 15. The form will become available in September 2024.

  • Application Submission: The application procedure consists of multiple parts, beginning with an online application form.
  • Applicants must submit academic transcripts, verification of admission to a graduate school, and financial statements.
  • Letters of reference are required.
