The TWAS-SN Bose Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is a collaboration between the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences in Kolkata, India. Giving young scientists from underdeveloped countries the opportunity to work as postdoctoral researchers in the natural sciences at esteemed Indian research centers is the aim of this fellowship program.

Benefits of the TWAS-SN Bose Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The following are the benefits of the TWAS-SN Bose Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in India:

  • As per protocol, S.N. Bose Center would give a monthly stipend to cover living expenses and food.
  • There will be no foreign exchange rate conversion for the monthly stipend.
  • As per the institution’s policy, on-campus housing will be offered in place of acceptable HRA.
  • Complete health insurance is not covered by the monthly stipend.
  • Nonetheless, the Center does take out a tiny payment for a Contributory Medical Plan. Benefits include only expenses paid in Kolkata and partial reimbursement of doctor’s fees, medications, and/or hospitalization costs, if any. The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) of the Indian government is modeled after the payment system.

Eligibility Criteria

  • be no older than 45 on December 31, the year of application.
  • be citizens of a developing nation (other than India).
  • Requires to be free of all visas to enter India or any other developed country, whether temporarily or permanently.
  • hold a research assignment while working on a regular basis in a developing nation (other than India).
  • possess a PhD in any field of the biological sciences, mathematics, physical chemistry, physics, or physical chemistry.
  • be approved by a S.N. Bose National Center department. It is recommended that prospective candidates go to www.bose.res.in, the website of the S.N. Bose National Centre, look for a suitable supervisor under whom they would like to pursue their studies, and get in touch with them.
  • Provide proof of English language competency if English was not your primary language of instruction;
  • Give proof that, after the fellowship is through, the individual will return to their own nation;
  • not accept any new tasks while receiving their fellowship;
  • Be able to support any visiting family members financially.
