Students from 29 qualifying countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America are awarded ICP Connect Scholarships for Master Programs by VLIR-UOS in order to pursue an English-taught Master’s degree at a Flemish university or university college in Belgium. ICP Connect study programs are recognized international study programs run by one or more universities in Flanders.

What does the VLIR-UOS Scholarship cover
The costs of living (board and lodging), travel, and tuition are all covered by VLIR-UOS scholarships. We only provide scholarships for the whole 12- or 24-month length of the Master’s program. You cannot submit an application for a partial scholarship.
ICP Connect Scholarships for Master Programs Eligibility
Candidates who fit the requirements below are eligible to apply for an ICP Connect Scholarship:
Nationality and place of residence: Candidates must be citizens of one of the 29 countries that qualify and must have been residing in one of these nations at the time of application (but not necessarily the same one).
Age: For initial master’s degrees and advanced master’s degrees, candidates’ ages as of January 1 of the intake year may not exceed 35 or 45, respectively.
Professional background and experience: Candidates working in higher education, the government, or civil society, or those aiming for a career in one of these sectors, will be given preference. If they have a strong drive and profile, candidates working in the private sector or just graduated candidates without any work experience may also be taken into consideration.
Scholarship applications: Each year, candidates are only allowed to submit one ICP Connect scholarship application.
Scholarships previously awarded: Candidates may not have previously been awarded a scholarship by the Belgian government to pursue a course of study, and they may not have enrolled in a course of study at a Belgian higher education institution prior to the start of the admission year.

Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroun, Cuba, DR Congo, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Guinee, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Peru, Philippines, Palestina, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Zimbabwe.
Application Process
- Verify that you meet all of the requirements to be eligible.
- Check out the chosen Master’s programs (15).
- Visit the relevant websites to learn more about the Master’s programs.
- Visit the university’s website and follow the instructions if you are interested in a certain program.
- Apply for program entrance as well as the scholarship itself on the university’s website. Make sure to indicate your wish to apply for a scholarship when submitting your application for the program. Do not submit more than one application for a Master’s program each year.
